About us
Our mission and areas of activity
The Azerbaijan–Slovakia Youth, Culture and Arts Association is a public platform that supports cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic in youth, education, culture, the arts, humanitarian relations and civil society. It seeks to build lasting and trusted ties between the two nations.
The Association’s main mission is to create a bridge of friendship, mutual understanding, cultural dialogue and cooperation between young people in Azerbaijan and Slovakia, and to promote accurate and comprehensive knowledge of both countries’ history, statehood, national cultural heritage and contemporary development.
The Association aims to bring Azerbaijani students studying in Slovakia, Slovak students studying in Azerbaijan and young people from other countries together on a shared cooperation platform.
Activities may include:
The Association will encourage young people to become project initiators, organisers and future leaders, with roles that extend beyond attending events.
One of the Association’s main areas of activity is to deepen ties between Azerbaijan and Slovakia through culture and the arts.
Planned activities include:
The Association regards bringing Azerbaijani culture to a wider audience in Slovakia as an important part of cultural diplomacy.
The Association will focus on raising awareness of Azerbaijan in Slovak society, especially among young people and students.
It will organise seminars, public lectures, presentations, exhibitions and other educational events on Azerbaijan’s ancient and rich history, traditions of statehood, national cultural heritage, literature, music, art, architecture and contemporary development model.
These activities will present Azerbaijan as a country with a rich history, traditions of statehood, cultural heritage and potential for modern development.
The Association will help present the history of Azerbaijani statehood, the country’s national interests and its current development priorities to international audiences in an accurate, objective and responsible manner.
It will also promote awareness among Azerbaijani youth of the Slovak Republic’s system of government, public institutions, traditions of democratic governance, youth policy and civil society.
This work will follow the principles of mutual respect, dialogue, the rule of law, transparency and openness to different views.
The Association will promote links and cooperation between universities, student organisations, academic communities and youth platforms in Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
Possible areas include:
The aim is to help young people studying in Azerbaijan and Slovakia get to know one another better and build a new generation of bridges between the two countries in science, business, culture and civic life.
The Association will work with universities, cultural centres, municipalities, non-governmental organisations, youth platforms and other public institutions in Slovakia to present Azerbaijani culture to a wider audience.
It will also help organise or provide organisational support for events in Slovakia involving Azerbaijani cultural figures, artists, musicians, painters, writers and other creative professionals.
The Association may carry out educational projects to inform international audiences about the history, cultural heritage and current restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
Where necessary and feasible, it may support visits to the liberated territories by students, researchers, journalists, cultural representatives and members of the public from Slovakia, helping them learn directly about the history, cultural heritage and restoration of these areas.
The Association will place particular importance on building partnerships with associations, foundations, youth organisations, universities, cultural institutions, diaspora organisations and international organisations operating in Slovakia.
It will also encourage cooperation with organisations in other European countries and the integration of Azerbaijan–Slovakia cooperation into broader international youth and cultural networks.
The Association will base its work on openness, inclusion, equal participation and mutual respect.
Its events will be open beyond citizens of Azerbaijan and Slovakia. Citizens of other countries, students, young people, researchers, artists and members of the public may also take part in the Association’s projects.
The Association therefore aims to create an open platform for cultural and intellectual dialogue about Azerbaijan in Europe while strengthening bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia.
The Association will support the development and delivery of new projects in fields that interest young people.
These may include:
We see the Association as a platform that brings people together and creates opportunities for lasting cooperation.
We aim to build long-term personal ties between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, connect young people, bring cultures closer and strengthen mutual understanding.
Each friendship between young people in Azerbaijan and Slovakia, and each cultural event, exhibition, concert, seminar or student project held today, is an investment in stronger relations between the two countries.
The Association’s guiding principle:
“Bridges through youth, friendships through culture, a future through cooperation.”
To create a bridge of friendship, mutual understanding, cultural dialogue and cooperation between young people in Azerbaijan and Slovakia, and to promote accurate and comprehensive knowledge of both countries.
To build a platform that creates lasting personal ties between Azerbaijan and Slovakia, connects young people, brings cultures closer and opens opportunities for future cooperation.
